The Section II Harrier 2005 Sectional Rankings
Rankings through 10/15 Boys: Class AA, Class A, Class B, Class C, Class D Girls: Class AA, Class A, Class B, Class C, Class D
Class AA Boys Things shook out after the Burnt Hills Invitational. Saratoga lost to C.B.A.-Lincroft at the Brown Invitational which hurts their shot at NTN and unfortunately overshadowed Steve Murdock's individual win. Shenendehowa had the weekend off and stay at second with third through seventh falling into order from their placing at Burnt Hills. Guilderland was a strong second with Brian Rhodes-Devey's win and top ten finishes from Seth Dubois and Justin Wager, Shaker edged out Niskayuna by five with Shaker strengthen by the return of Steve Marthy and Niskayuna was lead by Kyle O'Connor's 12th place and the rest of the top five under 17 minutes. Colonie looked stronger with Kevin Treadway looking good in 3rd place and Bethlehem dropping a spot but did run without Matt Shaffer. The rest of Class AA remained unchanged.
Class AA Girls Feeling better this week with the rankings than last week. The lack of full results from Manhattan made it tough. Saratoga took and easy win at Brown with Lyndsey Ferguson and Hannah Davidson going 1-2. Bethlehem jumps back up to second after edging out Shaker for third at Burnt Hills. Shenendehowa and Columbia were off this weekend, I was going to jump Columbia over Shen but with two dual meet losses last week I kept them where they are (though I'm sure they were a little fatigued after running in Florida the previous weekend). Guilderland is running strong in sixth with Niskayuna jumping over Colonie. Ballston Spa ran at Brown and tenth through twelfth fall in on their Burnt Hills Invy finishes.
Class A Boys Queensbury solidifies their number one ranking by winning big at the Burnt Hills Invy with Burnt Hills finishing third. No movement at all as all the Class A team fell in line with their Burnt Hills Invy finishes. Scotia-Glenville edged out Averill Park and Amsterdam was a bit back but still well ahead of South Glens Falls. South Glens Falls beat out Glens Falls in the Division Ii race to keep them at seven and C.B.A took the weekend off.
Class A Girls Holy Names lay claim to the number one slot after a 46 point win over Burnt Hills. Not much movement as Queensbury, Amsterdam, and Averill Park all finished in order. South Glens Falls and Scotia-Glenville jump over Glens Falls though Heather Mackey didn't run for Glens Falls last weekend.
Class B Boys Ichabod Crane was off but still hold on to number one. Cobleskill-Richmondville finished third at Burnt Hills to hold on to number two and Schalmont moves up a spot even though they didn't run last weekend. Broadalbin-Perth jumps over Bishop Gibbons after beating them at Burnt Hills and Hudson Falls jumps over Lansingburgh and Albany Academy after finishing ahead of them at Burnt Hills.
Class B Girls Broadalbin-Perth finished a close second to Saranac Lake at Burnt Hills and are the clear number one. Cohoes jumps up to number two after beating Lansingburgh by seven and Schalmont and Bishop Gibbons stay the same. Cobleskill-Richmondville beat Hudson Falls by seven and move ahead of them into seventh place.
Class C Boys Fonda-Fultonville went up to the Division III race and finished sixth to keep their number ranking, more importantly, John Moore ran his first race of the year. Berne-Knox keeps second after finishing second in the Division I race and Mayfield not running. Granville flips with Voorheesville based on time comparison since they ran in separate races at Burnt Hills and Chatham jumps Schuylerville after beating them at Burnt Hills. Everyone else stays the same.
Class C Girls Tough one to do. Fonda-Fultonville takes over the number one ranking based on time comparison with Berne-Knox-Westerlo since they were in different races at Burnt Hills. Even though Voorheesville were without their second, fifth, and sixth runners, I still had to drop them down the third. Hoosic Valley and Mayfield were off last weekend and stay the same and Chatham jumped over Schuylerville and an incomplete Maple Hill though both teams were missing some runners.
Class D Boys Lake George was off this weekend but stays at number one. Duanesburg is looking better after taking the Division I race at Burnt Hills and Greenwich jump to third after finishing fifth at Burnt Hills. North Warren and Berlin drop down one due to Greenwich's run and everyone else stays the same.
Class D Girls Greenwich stays at number one but Duanesburg really closed the gap as they only lost by five points at Burnt Hills compared to the 36 point defeat last weekend at Cobleskill. Everyone stays the same at Berlin was a solid third at Burnt Hills and Schoharie was the only other Class D team to run.
