Berlin Mountaineers

2017 Sectional Place: 8th Place-Class D

Projected Varsity: Collin Douglas-Jr., Jack Flowers-Jr., Nikifor Popov-So., Max Lockett-Sr., Michael Loughlin-So., Jeremy Yerdon-So., Joe Canam-Jr.

Key Losses: Josh Hendricks, Nick Styer

Team Outlook: Lose their 2nd and 5th runners from last year but return everyone else. Douglas is their top runners and is one of the top runners in the league, running in the mid 17's. Flowers comes in the high 18's with Popov their number three in the mid 19's. Next two runners are both over 20 minutes and will need to close the gap to their top three runners to move up and challenge the top three teams in the league

Greenwich Witches

2017 Sectional Place: 6th Place-Class D

Projected Varsity: Peyton Howard-Sr., Bruce Gregg-So., Ryan Savage-Jr.

Key Losses: Sam Grimmke, Jamie Haskell

Team Outlook: Lost two out of their top five from last year and only have three retuning but have a few new runners jumping in. Though Howard was only in the high 17 minute range expect him to be much improved after a successful track season which included a sub 4:30 1600 meters and has a good shot at winning the league. Gregg was in the high 17's last year with Savage in the mid 18's. which gives them a solid top three but the team's success will depend on the new runners coming in and how well they contribute.

Hoosic Valley Indians

2017 Sectional Place: 10th Place-Class D

Projected Varsity: Derek Cipolla-Sr., Cameron Marrota-So., Shane Yando-Jr., Jake Kinnicutt-Fr., Caden Jarvis-Fr.

Key Losses: Matt Rose, Ben Corey, Braden Allen, Dylan Clarkson

Team Outlook: Lost a bunch to graduation, including their top two runners. Cipolla and Yando should come in as their top two runners and both were in the mid 19 minute range last year. Marrota was the only other returning runner and was over 21 minutes. Much will depend on the two freshmen coming up but if they run well then the team can definitely move up at least a couple of places in the league.

Hoosick Falls Panthers

2017 Sectional Place: incomplete-Class C

Projected Varsity: Collin MacDonald-Jr., Gavin Yetto-Sr., Tyler Senecal-Sr.

Key Losses: Aiden Scott (Transferred to Columbia)

Team Outlook: Only had four last year in their first cross country season. Losing Scott to Columbia is tough but return three others and gave them the benefit of the doubt that they may have a full team. MacDonald is their top runner and was just over 19 minutes last year. Yetto is their number two and was in the mid 20's. Tough to predict how the can do teamwise but it's only their second season so it's a step up.

Mechanicville Red Raiders

2017 Sectional Place: 12th Place-Class C

Projected Varsity: Dylan Oliva-So., David Millard-Jr., Alex Motta-So., Andrew Herrick-So., Aiden Olsted-So., Hadyn Archambeault-Fr.

Key Losses: Cole Diffenbach

Team Outlook: Lost their number four last year but SHOULD return everyone else. Oliva and Millard were both in the mid 17's and are a good top tow. Everyone else was over 20 minutes last year and need to improve if the team wants to move up in the league.

Saratoga Catholic

2017 Sectional Place: 3rd Place-Class D

Projected Varsity: Caden Awad-Sr., Griffin Day-Sr., Michael Tagliafierro-Sr., Sean Murray-So., Zach Zanella-Sr., Hayden Day-So., Mike McDonald-So.

Key Losses: Kevin Cronin, Michael Halligan, JP Tagliafierro

Team Outlook: Defending league champions were hit hard by graduation as they lose three out of their top five from last year, including the individual league champion with Cronin. Still have a good team with Awad and Day leading the team as they were both in the mid to high 17 minute range. Big drop off after that as no one else is under 20 minutes so they will need to have their 3rd through 5th runner to close the gap if they want to challenge.

Stillwater Warriors

2017 Sectional Place: 6th Place-Class C

Projected Varsity: Joe Yusaitis-Sr., Erik Sicko-Sr., John Gannon-Jr., Jack Rubenstein-Jr., Michel Ghorayeb-Fr., Sam Moraci-So., Aaron McClements-Jr., Jack Kirkwood-Jr., Will Lutz-Fr.

Key Losses: Nick Roy

Team Outlook: Only lose their number two runner from last year and return everyone else. Yusaitis is their number one. He was in the high 16's last year and a state qualifier and should challenge for the league title. Sicko and Moraci were both in the 18's last year and should be their 2nd and 3rd runners. With the return of Gannon it gives them the deepest team in the league and should be the favorites to win the league.

Tamarac Bengals

2017 Sectional Place: 20th Place-Class C

Projected Varsity: Blake Dunteman-Jr., William Ashley-Jr., Michael Gendraon-Jr., Nathaniel LaPante-Sr., Tyler Filarecki-So., Trevor LaVan-So., Shane Thrasher-So.

Key Losses: Hunter Fitzpatrick 7

Team Outlook: Returns their top six from last year. Dunteman, Ashley, and Gendron are their top three as all were in the mid to high 19 minute range. Rest of the team were all over 21 minutes last year and will need to see an improvement this year if they want to see the team move up in the league.

Waldorf School

Projected Varsity: Micah Day-O'Connell-So., Tyler Grubb-Jr.

Key Losses: none

Team Outlook: Only had two runners last year with Day-O'Connell in the mid 19's and Grubb just under 21 minutes so they will need to focus on filling up their lineup.

 Wasaren League Girls

Last Year's Team Champion: Greenwich

Last Year's Individual Champion: Brynne Wright (Greenwich)

Team Predictions W-L   Top Individuals (Alphabetical Order)
1. Greenwich-* 9-0   Carolyn Burnell-Sr.-* Hoosic Valley
2. Berlin 8-1   Quinn Collins-Jr. Greenwich
3. Hoosic Valley 7-2 Emma Cronin-Jr. Greenwich
4. Emma Willard 6-3   Skylar Dailey-Jr. Emma Willard
5. Mechanicville 5-4   Sara Fitzgerald-Fr. Mechanicville
6. Saratoga Catholic 4-5   Annabel Gregg-Sr. Greenwich
7. Hoosick Falls 0-9   Emily Skiff-Fr. Greenwich
7. Stillwater 0-9   Brooke Wright-Jr. Greenwich
7. Tamarac 0-9   Brynne Wright-Jr. Greenwich
7. Waldorf School 0-9   Teagan Wright-8th Greenwich

Berlin Mountaineers

2017 Sectional Place: 5th Place-Class D

Projected Varsity: Elise Corbett-8th, Brady Hills-Fr., Haley Chaykowski Jewett-Sr., Cayla Hungerford-Sr., Hailey Beckwith-So., Sam Rokjer-8th, Katie Lockett-So.

Key Losses: none

Team Outlook: Return everyone from last year. Corbett and Hills come back with the two best returning times as both were in the mid to high 21 minute range. Chaykowski Jewett and Hungerford were not far behind as both were just over 22 minutes. Excellent 1-5 spread of 46 seconds but will want to see the gap stay but the times to improve a little but still look like they are in the lead for the battle of second place.

Emma Willard Jesters

2017 Sectional Place: 8th Place-Class B

Projected Varsity: Skylar Dailey-Jr., Sage Aronson-Jr., Oona Albert-Jr., Cece Lagomarsino-Jr., Angelica Ballard-Sr., Amber Hsu-Sr., Cate Nguyen-Jr.

Key Losses: Calynn Cerniglia, Olivia Pintair, Nin Xie

Team Outlook: Lose two out of their top five but always have huge numbers. Dailey returns as the top runner and is one of the top runners in the league running in the low 19's last year. Big gap after her as a trio of runners come in next, all in the mid to high 22 minute range. Will need those runners close the gap to Dailey if they want to challenge Berlin for 2nd place in the league. Team always has the potential to have someone new jump right into the top five.

Greenwich Witches

2017 Sectional Place: 1st place-Class D, 2nd Place-New York State Championships (class C this year)

Projected Varsity: Brynne Wright-Jr., Nina Sgambelluri-Fr., Emma Cronin-Jr., Teagen Wright-8th, Emily Skiff, Quinn Collins-Jr., Brooke Wright-Jr., Annabel Gregg-Sr., Nadia Chincola, Ramona Jordan

Key Losses: Chloe Littell

Team Outlook: Defending league champions and return just about everyone. Brynne Wright is the defending league champion and was under 18 minutes last year. Cronin returns as their 2nd runner and was just under 19 minutes last year with Teagan Wright and Quinn Collins were both in the mid 19's. Sgambelluri moving up from modified only strengthens the team as she had a very good track season. Huge favorites to repeat and possibly winning the state title.

Hoosic Valley Indians

2017 Sectional Place: 3rd Place-Class D

Projected Varsity: Carolyn Burnell-Jr., Lily Czub-8th, Eva Robert-Fr., Amanda Salisbury-Fr., Megan Rice-8th, Maria Rice-Sr., Madison Jones-Sr.

Key Losses: Rebecca Viall, Kat Rice, Julia Carlo

Team Outlook: Hit hard by graduation, losing the 2nd through 4th runners but still will be strong wit the addition of some younger runners from modified. Burnell returns as their number one and is one of the top runners in the league, running in the mid 19's last year. Czub, Robert, and Salisbury move up from modified and should be their 2nd through 4th runners with Czub possibly having a strong year after last year's success. Tough to figure out team wise as the team's success will all depend on how quickly the younger runners can adjust to varsity. If they do it well then the team could be very successful this year.

Hoosick Falls Panthers

2017 Sectional Place: incomplete-Class C

Projected Varsity: Faye MacDonald-Jr., Kate Waugh-8th, Lourdes Colon-Sr.

Key Losses: none

Team Outlook: Only had three runners from their first year of cross country but should return all of them. MacDonald looks to be their top runner and was just over 24 minutes last year. Team will concentrate on building the team up in just their second year of having a team.

Mechanicville Red Raiders

2017 Sectional Place: 13th Place-Class C

Projected Varsity: Sara Fitzgerald-Fr., Eleni Northrop-Jr., Samantha Simmons-Sr., Sarah Simmons-Sr., Marissa Bornt-Fr., Rosalea Claeys-So., Layla Burkhouse-So.

Key Losses: Tierney Bisaillon

Team Outlook: Should return just about everyone from last yeat. Fitzgerald returns as their top runner and was in the high 20's last year with Northrop coming back as their second runner about a minute behind. They will need their 4th and 5th runners to close the gap to their top three if they want to move up in the leagie.

Saratoga Catholic

2017 Sectional Place: 8th Place-Class D

Projected Varsity: Katie Cronin-Fr., Lauren Maher-Jr., Madelynn Rohne-Jr., Rua Wlash-Jr.

Key Losses: Katie West-3

Team Outlook: Lose their third runner from last year but return the other four. Cronin is their returning top runner and was in the high 20 minute range last year with Maher their number two in the mid 21's. Their other two returning runners were both at least two minutes behind and the team will need to close the gap to their top two runners to improve in the league.

Stillwater Warriors

2017 Sectional Place: incomplete-Class C

Projected Varsity: Gianna Locci-Fr., Jenna Urbanski-Jr., Rebecca Mayo-Fr.

Key Losses: Emma Bisaillon

Team Outlook: Incomplete last year and only return three this year. Locci comes in as their number one after being injured most of last year. Had a great Spring jumping so we'll see how that translates to distance. Urbanski is their number two and was in the high 20's last year but looks to improve this season.

Tamarac Bengals

2017 Sectional Place: incomplete-Class C

Projected Varsity: Mackenzie Barcomb-So., Isabelle Schroeder-Sr., Amanda Thrasher-So.

Key Losses: none

Team Outlook: Only had three runners last year but should return all of them. Barcomb returns as their top runner and was in the mid 22's last year with Schroeder their number two about a minute back. Team will be working on strengthening the program and could move up if they can fill the lineup.

Waldorf School

Projected Varsity: Lily Kendall-So., Vivian Sweet-So.

Key Losses: none

Team Outlook: Only had two runners last year but should return both. Both runners were over 26 minutes last year so building the program up is the first priority.
